Christmas Lights My Arse

Liverpool's X-Factor stars Eton Road and Raymond Quinn and Ricky Tomlinson, as Jim Royle, are to headline the Liverpool's Christmas Lights Switch-On, which begins at 5pm on Sunday 19th November.

First up is Raymond with his version of 'Ain't That a Kick in the Head' by Dean Martin. Eton Road immediately follow with the Abba song 'Does your mother know', with Jim Royle's new single 'Christmas My A*se' ending a 20 minute blitz of possible Christmas No1 acts. Premiership stars from Everton and Liverpool Football Club will also in attendance.

The event also features trapeze artists as well as a rendition of the Christmas classics The Snowman and Winter Wonderland by pupils from Notre Dame Gospel Choir. TV's Two of Us star Mark Moraghan also performs.

The evening - which celebrates the 2006 culture themed year Liverpool Performs - climaxes with a fireworks display off Wellington Column. Five miles of lights will flicker into life around the city - an increase of 25% on last year. New streets lit up include Sir Thomas Street, Great Charlotte Street, Renshaw Street and Richmond Street.

Liverpool will also host a special New Year's Eve show at Liverpool Town Hall, as the city welcomes in 2007 - which will mark Liverpool's 800th anniversary year.
