Doctor Who Up Close

Wallasey Spaceport

Any event where you are greeted by a Cyberman has to be good. Add to this a Tenth Doctor lookalike opening doors with a sonic screwdriver and remote control K9 and you're onto a winner. With a host of monsters, props and costumes from the Doctor Who revival on offer, with a hat-full of merchandise fans were like pigs in clover at the opening night. Alongside Spaceport's permanent exhibits on space and stuff, the Who memorabilia fitted in perfectly, with Daleks unsurprisingly proving the most popular draw. Autons, Slitheen, clockwork androids, K9, Ood ad Cybermen feature alongside costumes worn by David Tennant and Billie Piper. With the menagerie of monsters (such as Col Sparkplug) from last year's episode The End of the World, a film reel and staggering collection of Doctor Who curios and collectibles there's plenty on offer for the Doctor Who fan. A word on Spaceport's permanent exhibits too, which are well worth seeing in their own right. Imaginatively displayed, kids will love a day out at Wallasey, and big kids will enjoy themselves too.Harry Sullivan
